A VERDICT OF SUICIDE. (,BS TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION .) PAHIATUA, April 27. At the inquest on the circumstances surrounding the death of Thomas William Wilson, a mechanic at a timber mill for some years, a verdict w T as returned of suicide by -coal gas poisoning. His employer stated that the deceased lived a very quiet life. He liad been worried a good deal over a recent motor collision at Ashhurst. The police found a note in a drawer written, by the deceased, leaving all his possessions to a person living in anotner district, and other than the next of kin. WORKER ’S SEVERE INJUR Y. NELSON, April 27. David Coghlan, of Pikomanu, had his right hand blown off by an explosion of a. percussion, cap which he was placing into a charge of dynamite. * A DESERTER IMPRISONED. CHRISTCHURCH, April 27. Edward William O’Connor, a ship’s deserter, who imposed on two priests at St. Rede’s College and obtained money, was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment. DUNEDIN EXHIBITION. DUNEDIN, April 27. The twenty-third week of the exhibition, which ended yesterday, brought the total to 2,958,269, a daily average of 21,593. S HIPS STILL IDLE AT LYTTELTON CHRISTCHURCH, April 27. The shins at Lyttelton were again idle today. A conference, aiming at it settlement, has been fixed for tomorrow. MESSAGE CORRECTED. WELLINGTON, April 27. The message sent yesterday relative to a dividend of 10 per cent declared by the “National Bank of New Zealand” should have read “National Bank of Australasia.”
