SHEEP DOG TRIALS.

THIRD EVENT COMPLETED
A further stage of completion was reached yesterday in connection with the Egmont Club’s .sheep dog trials gathering at Taiporohenui, the heading event being concluded late in the afternoon. It is expected that the trials will finish early this afternoon at the latest. By scoring most points with one dog fo;r The third time in the open yarding and heading classes at the trials, Mr M. M. Scott has won outright the Bennett and Sutton cup, which has been in competition ever since 1909. Mr Scott got bis first Teg-in for the trophy in 1919, and another in 1922. This year’s trials have been harmoniously conducted, and the work in every department marked with a commendable swing, reflecting credit particularly on the ladies’ luncheon committee, stewards and the chief officer in the weightjudging competitions (Mirs Hicks).

Doole’s Bell, 16—13—3—10 (42) 6 It is worthy of note that ‘‘Lad” scored the possib'e. Judge’s Notes. The judge’s comments on the placed clogs were as follow: — “Lad.”—Went out on left; got a line and made a good head in lmin 2s;cs; stood wel 1 to sheep at head and lifted them quickly; made good progress all the wav to ring in 5.15. Time 9.34. I ‘Swift.”—Went out on left; made a wide head: lifted sheep very quietly; came in good line to ring; dog very quiet with sheep. Time, 9.45. “Charm.” —Went out to right across the creek; kept a fair line to head; pud led well and made good progress all the way to ling in 4.40: good work at ring. Time, 7.59. “Chief Jr.” —Went- out ion right; crossed his line, but made a good: head in 1.23; pulled well and made good progress al' the time; 5.58 to ring; good work at ring. Time, lOmin. “Meg.”—Went out fairly well to head: lifted well, but came too much on lone side of sheep; fair work at ring. “Bell.” —Went out to left on good line; made a good head; pulled a hit rashly. .
