At the tallow sale 1259 casks were offered and 797 sold. Good and fine mutton were neglected, but other sorts sold freely at 6d to Is advance. At Westfield to-day there was a moderate yarding of beef, there being little or no change in values. Bidding was somewhat erratic and’ the sale improved towards the end. Extra choice and prime ox\ made 30s per 1001 b., choice and prime £1 7s to £'] 9s, ordinary and plain £1 5s to £1 6s, prime young cow and heifer beef £1 6s, ordinary, ISs to 225, rough, 12s to 16s. Sheep.—Medium prime made £1 8s 6d to £l, 10s 6d, small and unfinished, £1 Is to 255, medium ewes £1 Is to £1 2s 6d, light and unfinished. 15s to £l. A small yarding sold at last week’s rates. Heavy prime lambs made £1 3s 6d to £1 5s 6d, medium £1 Is 6d to £1 3s, light 18s to £1 Is. Pigs.—A good yarding, prices being unchanged. Choppers made £4ss, medium and heavy baconers £4 to £4 12s, light baconers and heavy porkers £3 to £3 16s. medium and light porkers £2 8s to £2 17s.
STOCK MARKETS. ADDINGTON QUOTATIONS. CHRISTCHURCH, April ’2l. Heavy entries were again forwarded in most classes of stock at Addington. Store sheep.—A big number of North Island ewes, also several lamb consignments from across Cook Strait, were forwarded, as well as shipped sheep from Marlborough and railed sheep from other parts. Good ewes sold at fully up to last week’s rates, but inferior and all classes of lambs were easier, lambs by Is 6d to 2s per head. Forward wethers sold firmly. Fat lambs sold at last week’s values and a shade in advance of the export schedule rate. Prime medium lambs made to lOd a lb.
Fat sheep.—Show wethers made to 495, extra prime 37s to 40s, prime 34s to 36s 6d, medium 30s to 33s 6d, light 26s to 29s 6d, extra prime ewes to 31s 4d, prime 26s to 295, medium 21s 6d to 225. aged l'4s to 18s. Eat Cattle.—‘One North Island line of 22 averaged £lB 6s, tlie best of the duv. Extra heavy steers realised from £l7 10s to £2<) 17s 6d, heavy prime £ls to £'6 15s, prime medium weight £l3 10s to £l6, medium quality £lO to £l2 15s, light £7 to £9 15s, extrVa prime' heifers to £l3 12s 6d, prime £8 10s to £ll, ordinary £4 17s 6d to £6 10s, extra prime cows to £l2, prime £8 to £lO 10s, ordinary £6 to £7 16s, light £5 to £5 17s 6d, rough £4 to £4 17s 6d.
