MOUNT EGMONT.
(To- the Editor.) Sir, —I wrote some little time ago on this subject and asked that some abler pens should get busy in the matter. This matter concerns the whole of New Zealand, s*> let us get busy. Yes, let the good people come in with us for once. The objects: (IjW To put a half-chain motor road Hawera and Stratford through Dawr son Falls to New Plymouth; (2) to build suitable hostels, with golf courses, tennis courts, etc. To finance this, I propose a Mount Egmont raffle. One of these money-raising efforts has justclosed with a gioss return of over £40,000. Now, Mr. Editor, it is plain to us all that we could easily raise £ 100*000 for such a noble cause. We could keep on running these raffles until we put a road right around the mountain. —I am, etc., EGMONT. Hawera.
