There was a (fair attendance of breeders of Friesians at the annual meeting of the Taranaki Association on Wednesday, at Stratford, Air. C. Alarcliant (president) in the chair. The balance-sheet disclosed a good sound position, and the report indicated that the year had been successful.
In moving their adoption, the chairman referred with satisfaction to the good exhibits made by breeders at various shows, and explained the difficulties ’ experienced in connection with the exhibit at the Hawera AVinter Show. He considered that in every way Taranaki was holding her own with other provinces in regard to type and production. He commended the -decision to, give the Dominion secretary nsssitance to enable him to devote time to giving lectures throughout New Zealand, and so keep the breed before the people He regretted that tlie arrangements suggested for exhibiting at the Royal Show last year had not materialised, owing to the difficulty experienced in securing mature cattle. He hoped that all would begin working now with the object of making a complete team exhibit this year. In conclusion, he urged holding quarterly meetings, and that assistance should be given the secretary in securing publicity for matters connected with the breed. Officers elected for the ensuing year were as follow: President, Mr. C. Alarcliant: committee, Messrs Pf. Alarcliant, C. AV. Baldwin. J. O’Shea; secretary, Air. A. J-. Barr. The honorarium of the secretary was fixed at £2O, with a bonus for last veal* of £5.
