Dixey, the Conservative member for Penrith, sought leave to introduce a hill legalising betting and registering all bookmakers, in the interests of cleaner conditions of racing, After a very brief discussion leave was refused, amidst cheers, by 126 votes to 99. —Aus.-N.Z Cable Assn.
