SENTENCES: AT AUCKLAND. • (BY TELEGRAPH- —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, April 21. Alt the Supreme Count, Judge Herdman sentenced three young Maoris, Manahi, Mukunuku, and Thimaerea Parara-rai to two years’ hard labour, zo be followed by two yeans’- reformative detention, for ro-bbeiy with violence at Waipiro Bay. The accused went to a man’s house, two of them being masked and one of them carrying a gun. The man was knocked down and half strangled by one of tilie accused, while the others -robbed the house. George Whit-more for theft of money at Rotorua, was admitted to probation for two years, on the condition that he repaid £39 os 6d in four months.

Charles George L’ichibwark, for incest at Hamilton, was sentenced to threeyears’ hard labour. Eugene Byrne, for forgery, was ordered twelve months’ reformative -treatment. Three men with bad records. James Mowbray Arno!, Leonard Edward Bira-st-ing, and Etu Sainsbury, for theft, breaking and entering, a-nd stealing a motor car at Kiaitaiia- and Whangarei, were sentenced to two yea-ns-’ imprisonment, to coonmen.ce- at the- expiration of their present sentences. Charles Joseph Hugh- Curry, for theft as -a postal official a-t Hamilton, wasremanded till Wednesday. William Edward Walker, for forgery and uttering, was sentenced to 12 months’ hard labour. Bruce Ma-cown, -for carnal knowledge, was given, three months’ hard -labour.
