Tennis was played yesterday in shov. rery weather, the start being delayed owing to the soft state of the courts as a result of the heavy rain overnight. Some of the matches had to be postponed. In the semi-finals of the men’s singles championship, Kahus had a decisive win over Baker in three straight sets. His plaeings and backhand work were too much for Baker. The scores were B—6,8 —6, 6—4, 6—2. The other' semi-final was between Willard and! Andrews'! The court was very soft andi .became much churned up. and the players, although using spiked shoes, had difficulty in keeping a foothold. Willard was unable to adapt himself to the conditions and played erratically. Andrews played his shots with much more ."judgment and won the first set 6—3. When the second set was 3—2, Andrews leading, play .was abandoned for the day on account of rain.

In tlio final of the women’s championship of New South Wales. Miss Boyd beat Miss Ak’liurst (holder) 4—(i 6 —2. 6 —o. Miss Akhurst was well below her usual form.
