DAIRY CONTROL.
ELECTION SYSTEM- DISCUSSED .TWO SOUTHLAND MOTIONS (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) INVERCARGILL,--April 18. A meeting of upwards of- 90 representatives of Southland dairy . factories on, Saturday, discussed ‘matters'-relative to the forthcoming conference, at Wellington with regard to dairy control. The following motions were adopted: (1) That this meeting, is in favour of voting for the Control Board on an export tonnage basis, the voting to'be in the hands of the directors of each company. ... " 1
(2) That subject to the tonnage system being adopted, the ward system of election be adopted. . N The meeting also decided against the establishment of a dairy council as fa buffer between supplies and the board.
THE FRANCHISE QUESTION. EMMAiM SUPPLIERS’ DECISION. A well attended/ meeting of suppliers of the Hit-ham 100-operarive Dairy Factory Company, Limited, held .in the . Town Hall, Hlthtam, on Saturday afternoon, passed a resolution favouring the election of members of the Control Board on an expert tonnage -basis only, the basis for computing -the - franchise to be one vote for every foil; of butter and one vote for every two tons of cheese exported during the season previous to the election, and the voting power to be. exercised by the. company or. person exporting the produce. The chairman of directors, Mr. G. H. White, bias been appointed to" represent the company -at the conference in Wellington, .on the 28th inst., for the purpose of discussing and bringing before Parliament suggestions as to -alterations in the present method of election of the Control Board.
