LABOUR SHORTAGE
UNITED STATES PROBLEM. WORKERS IN DEMAND PLENTY TO DO BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COP ZRiGHT. WASHINGTON, April 15. The Labour Department reports that the United States is facing a serious employment problem, with the prospect of the first, widespread labour shortage since the 1922 depression in the market. The improvement in steel, building, textile, and shoe manufacturing lines has strengthened demands for skilled and Unskilled workers. Heavy demands are being made on employment agencies throughout the country for'labour in the fields and along the highways in road construction. Previous employment records are expected to be shattered in the automotive and building lines this year. Full time employment prevails in the textile industries of New England and southern States.
Mr'Francis Jones, United States Employment Director, says there is going to be work for everybody who wants to work.
