PRIEST’S INVENTION.

CABBAGE-PLANTING MACHINE. \ \ The Abbe Bade, of the TreizeVents, in the Vendee, France, is something more than a cure of souls. In his leisure moments he has invented a cab-bage-planting machine for which he has taken the precaution to obtain a patent, for the first experiments show that it is likely to prove, an extremely useful labour-saving device. So that his ideas could 1 assume concrete shape, the priest sought the assistance of a young engineer and the local blacksmith. It was a happy moment for him when his machine was tested. The apparatus distributed the cabbage plants mechanically, and they were seized by pincers and pushed into the ground and covered with earth. Several hundred agriculturists have watched the experiments with great interest.
