Mucdi interest is being shown in the hoisting of the main beams to support the roof of the new garage being erected by Mr J. W. Aldertori, the contractor for Messrs Newton King, Ltd., in Union Street. Each set, made of Oregon pine and rimu, weighs 2 tons 4 cwt, and there are twelve, the span being 80 feet 3 inches, considerably the largest ever put up in Hawera. The work is being done by a pulley hoist from a high vertical pole, and the hauling power is secured by means of a heavy lorry. The first set was got into position this morning.
