The search of a young woman passenger arriving 'by a Japanese liner, ,'brmiht to light, a number of valuable .JL silk scarves, which were wrapped olosewiy round her body. Others were bidden on her person and in her luggage. Subsequent investigation at her residence led to seizure of silks and other Eastern goods valued at £IOOO, supposed to be part of the proceeds of extensive smuggling operations carried on over a lengthy period.
