HUGE NEW LINER.

SHIPBUILDERS EXCITED. BELFAST, Feb. 12. Belfast shipbuilding quarters were greatly exercised 1 to-day by a report that the White Star Company propose to order from Harland and Wolff _ a new vessel larger than the Majestic, which is 56,551 tons. Officials at the Queen’s Island yard, when qoestioned about the’ report, refused to confirm or deny it.. In well informed quarters this evening the report was generally accepted as accurate. The assumption ;is that the new vessel will be approximately 60,000 tons and 950 feet long. At the present price of labour andi raw niaterial the ship will cost between 2J millions and 3 millions.. At least two years will lapse between the laying of the keel and the trial trip. The two slips on which the White Star liners Olympic, Titanic and Britannic were built have been lying idle for,a long time, and the proposed new boat could be constructed on either of them;.
