AIR LANG’S SPEECH AT LABOUR CONFERENCE. BY CABLE —CRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHI SYDNEY, April 6. Air. Lang, addressing the Labour Congress, announced the Government’s -determination to proceed with the abolition of - the Upper House. He said he did not recognise the right of the Governor to interfere -with the functions of Parliament. He urged the expulsion from the movement of thosp members who failed to vote when the. Abolition Bill was before the House. Mr Lang concluded by saying that the. Government did not recognise the right of a non-representative nominee chamber to censor and destroy Labour legislation. Every' constitutional menus at the disposal of the Government would be exhausted to make the people's. chamber paramount. The conference unanimously recorded its appreciation of Air Lang’s services and pledged unswerving loyalty' to the Government.
