Zinovieff has been deprived of the presidency of the Leningrad Soviet, thus losing all official authority. PARIS, April 4. A Strasburg message states that the German authorities seized a French military aeroplane which, when flying over the Rhine, was forced to land at Zaeekingen Baden, but the occupants, an officer and a sergeant, 'were allowed to return to France. LONDON, April 4. The Sunday papers forecast as Budget certainties an unaltered jncome tax, no increase in other direct taxes, the road fund to be raided, and no luxury nor betting taxes. MELBOURNE. April 5. In connection with the death of Mrs. Laws, at Oakleigh. Mrs. Mary Ethel Hudson, a nurse, has been charged with murder. Mrs. Law’s body was found early in the morning of March 25 in a sitting posture against a tree near a road in Oakleigh. An examination of deceased revealed the fact that death had followed a certain operation.
LONDON, April 4. A memorial statuette to 275,000 of the Empire’s horses who .'fell in the war was dedicated in Hampstead Garden Suburb Church. The statuette is inscribed: “Faithful until death. Not one of them is forgotten before God.” The damage at the Shadwell fire is estimated at £250,000. Two thousand five hundred bales 1 of wool, worth £BO each, were destroyed. . The trawler Wakakura is arriving at Sheerness on Tuesday from, the contractors. She will immediately be manned and commissioned, for service in the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy.
