BIG LAND PURCHASE.

COVENTRY TO "TAKE IN" 2334 ACRES. An important purchase of land was decided upon on February 10 by the Coventry City Council from Lord Leigh, on the south side of the city, comprising 2334 acres at a cost of £114,000, including expenses. The land includes 1287 acres pasture, 641 acres arable, and 346 acres woodland, the latter comprising the avenue of trees and spinneys along Kenilworth Road, one of the beauty spots in Warwickshire, wMch it is proposed to maintain. The land will be available for housing, public parks, and allotments, and enables the Council to visualise a greater Coventry. Included in the purchase are eleven farms and 37 other houses and cottages, and tlier§ are available road frontages amounting to nearly 12i miles.
