The Trotting Club has decided to inaugurate ostrich racing at its meeting on Saturday next. The Times’ Riga correspondent reports that ZinoyiefF has been dismissed from the chairmanship of the Leningrad Executive Committee, owing to bis opposition to bis colleague’s policy. The brown heart appeal was dismissed by a majority, with costs. Mr .Justice Rankes, in delivering judgment, said there was no ground for imputing to the shipowners any want of care in reference to provision for ventilation in the ships’ holds. There was evidence that the fruit had ,been left on the trees too long. That might have had a, .material effect, producing susceptibility to disease. Mr Justice Sortition concurred. Mr Justice Atkin differed, holding that, the appellants had established beyond doubt that the damage to. the apples had occurred during transit.
