CHINA’S CIVIL WAR
REACHES IMPORTANT STAGE.
TIENTSIN RECAPTURED. WU PEI FU TAKES A HAND. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received noon to-day. PEKIN, March 25. The civil war has reached an important stage. The Mukden generals, .Li Citing Lin and Ghang-teo-iigchang, who loosely acknowledge Chang-tso- jn’s authority, have recaptured Tientsin from Kuo Min-Chan, and are now advancing to Peking along the railway, while C'haiig-tso-lin’s. cavalry are advancing to Pekin from the East, and Wu Pei Fu, having completely beared Honan province- of Kuo Alin-Chan’s forces, is advancing on the capital along the Peking-Hankow railway. Meanwhile Wu Pei Fu’s rear is threatened owing to the Red coup d ! etat recently at Changsha.
Hankow reports that troops from Changsha are moving against Yochow, on the Hunan-Hupeh border, and that this is regarded at Wu Pei Fu’s headquarters as a preliminary to a general Red expedition against Hankow.—A. and N.Z. Assn
