What she needs is a new ideal, and leaders forceful and patriotic enough to subordinate politics of the moment to the real needs of the country. She needs fewer politicians and more real politics. Mr Blythe laughs at Australians pretentions to .individuality, and calls them “good, little copy-cats,” They are curious people, he says, with a large conceit of themselves, due to their long distance from others. Their fancy that they are outstanding in their native originality is erroneous, as thev are completely 'standardised, herd in cities, and follow English customs, contrast with American individuality. ___________
