SHEEP DOG TRIALS.
WAVEELEY-WAITOTARA CLUB. ANNUAL EVENTS.. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The tenth annual trial of the Waverley-Waitotara Sheep Dog Trial Club were held on Mr A. L. Elmslie ’s property at Waverley on Wednesday and Thursday last. The weather was fine but cold, and this, to some extent, accounted for the attendance not being as good as on previous years. The standard of work done was quite good and compared favourably with past trials.' Results were as follows: HEAD, PULL AND HOLD IN RING. R. Guthrie’s Chep 1 M. Scott’s Scotty 2 M. Scott’s Swift 3 A. Campbell’s Don 4 The McDonald Memorial Cup was won outright by R. Guthrie. HEAD, PULL, DRIVE AND YARD. E. Leahy’s Spark 1 W. V. Mclntyre’s Chief 2 R. Guthrie’s Charm 3 R. Guthrie’s Chep 4 The McGregor Cup was won outright by E. Leahy. HEAD, PULL AND DRIVE THROUGH TWO SETS HURDLES (Novice). T. E. Wilson’s Bint 1 H. V. Gower’s Boy 2 W. V. Benson’s Chief 3 E. F. Webby’s Pinch 4 E. Foster’s Smoke 5 ' HUNTAWAY. W. V. Mclntyre’s Donald Bruce ... 1 R. Stewart’s Jock 2 M. Stott’s Nell 3 T, Sullivan’s Rafferty 4 SPECIAL PRIZES. Special prizes were awarded as follows: J. R. Corrigan’s special, for competitor securing most points in classes 11. and IV. with any one dog in each event. —W. V. Mclntyre. Gawne Cup, for best maiden dog between Patea and the Kai Iwi stream. — R. Stewart. E. Parson’s special, for dog scoring most points in the two heading open events. —R. Guthrie. F. R. Jackson and Co.’s special, for best all-round dog between Patea and Kai Iwi stream.—W. G. Harper. L. Beir’s trophy, for competitor with best control in Class 111.—T..E. Wilson. R. Guthrie’s special, for most points in style, Class IV.—W. V. Mclntyre. A. Old’s trophy, for youngest competitor.—E. Webby. H. Raynor’s trophy, for oldest competitor.—A. L. Elmslie. H. G. Dickie’s (M.P.) special, for best head in Class I.—R. Guthrie and M. Scott. E. McCarthy’s special, for novice competitor showing best generalship.— T. E. Wilson. Special prizes for best dogs which have never won an open event in each class. —Class 1., H. J. Wilson; Class 11., W. V. Benson; Class IV., W. J. Harper.
