EGMONT , COMMITTEE .IIEETING. SHOW DATES AMENDED. The general committee of the Egmont A. and P. Association met at Hawera this afternoon. There were present: Messrs S. C. Tonks (president, in the. chair), R. McCay, J. D. Scott, D. S. Richardson, E A. Washer, J. S. T. Short; C. H. Washer, B. C. Lysaght, N. Crocker, E. Mills, A. Hunter, T. Wilson, and A. J. Haseltine. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs H. E. Johnson anL F. Gilianders. A letter received from the Wanganui Agricultural Association advised that the Royal Show, following the week after the Palmerston 'North Show, would clash with the usual dates of the AVanganui Show. It was proposed' that the dates of the AA'anganui Show be altered to November 17 and 18, which would mean that the Eigmont Association would have to take its old dates, November 24 and 25. On the motion of Messrs Hunter and Short it was decided to agree to the alteration of the Egmont Show dates. The following resignations were accepted ; Messrs G. Pickup (Ngaere), I. Saunderson (Eltham), T. Linn (Mangatoki), and Dr. R. G. B. Sinclair (Hawera). The Mokoia Settlers’ Association was granted the use of hurdles for jumping competitions at its annual show, to be held on Wednesday, May 19. Mr. D. S. Richardson, chairman of the association, who was in* attendance, expressed appreciation of the courtesy extended. The president was appointed to represent' the association at a meeting being arranged in the AVinter Show Buildings at 7.30 p.m. on Monday, 29th inst., for the purpose of arranging a farewell function to Mr. and Mrs. Gilianders. who are leaving short, ly on an extended tour of the world. A letter expressing thanks for the loan of 1 milers on the occasion of the Hawera Plunket Society’s annual fete was received from the secretary of the society. The necessity for painting the show buildings was mentioned by the chairman, and on the motion of Ales si's Haseltine and Mills the work was authorised, the supervision beincr left to the grounds committee. Appreciation was expressed concern ing the yield of lucerne from the two acres established on the grounds, the chairman reporting that for the second and third cuts, which had been taken ■off since the commencement of the year, the sum of £l7 15s had been realised. The grounds committee was recommended to have the grourtds manured if funds permit.
