UNIQUE REMEDY. LABOUR BATTALIONS. FOR, WORK IN DOMINIONS. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, March 26. In the House of Commons, Captain Guest’s remedy for unemployment suggested a voluntary expeditionary labour force on tlie lines of war time to go to the Dominions on developmental work for a period of years, with a system of. separation allowances if necessary. He suggested raisilig a, loan of £IOO,000,000 for this purpose, and he, believed the Dominions would subscribe. (Mr. W. Lunn pointed out that the. Dominions deprecated any proposal directly associating Empire settlement with unemployment. There were millions of acres awaiting development here. Mr. L. O. M. Amiery doubted whether a military fonni .of organisation was the best. Migration ought never to be considered as a means of l idding ourselves of people whom we did not want. He suggested that one of the most -hopeful topics of discussion at the Imperial Conference would be how to cheapen unassisted passages and increase consumption of Elmpire goods.
