N.S.W. FLOODS
DANGER STILL THREATENS. LOW-LYING AREAS. THE RAIN CEASES. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. SYDNEY, March 26. The rain lias now abated. Reports from the country centres state that the town of Coonamble is under water, but only the low-lying parts were affected and the damage is not serious. Other centres report flood waters entering the houses, but the lull in the rain lias averted the serious consequences at first anticipated. All the towns are now safe, unless there are further heavy falls of rain, which are unlikely. Received 11.57 a.m. to-day. SYDNEY, March 27. There is still a considerable danger of flooding in the low-lying towns on the Macquarie River below Dubbo. The Darling is expected to flood when the waters of the Macquarie and the Castlebreagh come down. The Hunter River at Maitland is receding, but the lowlying portions of the town are still under water. The flood waters around Wellington have disappeared, leaving a trail of debris behind. The rain is now mostly coastal and very little has fallen. Warwick Farm and course arc reported to be in excellent condition for to-day’s races. It is still raining in Sydney.
