The Minister of Immigration has announced that a number of skilled N farm labourers will arrive in New Zealand by the Corinthic on April 6. They have been specially selected by, the immigration authorities in the United Kingdom. Farmers who desire the services of these men should make application to the Immigration Department, Wellington. The first party of 12 gii'l immigrants for New Zealand under the scheme organised by the sheepfarmers sail on the lonic on March 26 (says a London cable). • Two men made a bad mistake this week by accosting a detective and asking him for money. In each instance he recognised them as men with previous convictions, and he promptly arrested them (says a Wellington Press Association message). The magistrate, after listening to their record, characterised both as idlers and spongers, and sent them to gaol for 12 months.
