NATIVE’S SUDDEN DEATH.
WHILE ROUNDING UP STOCK. The sudden death of a well-known, middle-aged native, Rangialiu Pikirapu, of Ohangai, occurred at Taiporohenui on the property of Mr. J. Casserley, where he was assisting with farm work. It is understood that Pikirapu, who was apparently in his- usual good health, had left the house early in the morning on horseback for the purpose of rounding up the stock. Some little time later he was found lying on the ground beside the horse complaining of great heat of the body and attempting to remove his coat. Dr. Bnist was summoned from Hawera, but before his arrival some half hour later, the native had expired. Constable Tocher brought the body into town, where a- post mortem examination was conducted. It is understood that an inquest will. he Conducted at a later date. The deceased was well known in South Taranaki and was regarded, as being one of the best types of native.
