DAIRY CONTROL.

MEETING AT PALMERSTON

(BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N., March 19.

There was an exceedingly large attendance at a meeting ot representatives of the dairy industry held this morning at the instigation of the Manawatu and West Coast Dairy Companies’ Association, to hear addresses by members of the Daily Export Control Board on the question of absolute control. Prior to the address of Mr. Grounds, the chairman (Mr. Broadbelt) expressed regret at the accident to Mr. Gardiner, organiser of the Free Marketing League, whereby the latter was unable to be present. Mr. Nixon (Makowhai) at this stage ro.se to protest against the executive’s action in deciding to allow only one side of the subject to be discussed. The chairman replied that if the Free Marketing League wished to put its views before the factories under the association the executive would give an opportunity when asked. Mr. Grounds then addressed the meeting on the boards’ policy, repyliug to criticism. The meeting is proceeding.
