Discussing the Miscellaneous Economy Bill, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Winston Churchill, said that under the Bill the savings during the second year would be slightly less than during the first year. There would be a yearly saving for the next three years' of ‘£2,750,000 on health insurance grants, and a. weekly reduction of three farthings per capita in the Government’s contributions to unemployment insurance. A woman’s head, roughly severed, was found in a. parcel in a train which arrived at Guildford from *V\ aterloo station. The police are investigating. The New Zealand High Commissioner’s office is fully utilising the Empire shopping week. Lectures are o-iven over a large radius around London, and New Zealand films are in heavy demand.
