The controversy proceeding in Wellington, and other parts of the Dominion on the question of whether petrol pumps should foe allowed on the kerbside of streets was referred to in an interview a Dominion reporter had with the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hom. R. F. Bollard. The Minister, ch iist ' making it clear that the queistioiii was primarily lor local bodies to decide, showed: that the. Department in charge or explosives did not unfavourably view the kerbside pumps, and quoted reasons for its attitude. Ashton Harold Flynn, a young motor mechanic, was charged an the Police Court at Hamilton with driving a car in a negligent manner, causing the death of 'Frederick William Gbainey in a fatal accident which occurred at Hamilton on the evening of February 11.
