PRISONS BOARD.

NEW CHAIRMAN APPOINTED. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, March 12. The retirement from the judicial bench of Sir Robert Stout has left vacant the position of chairman off the Prisons Board, which position must, by statute, be filled by a. judge. The new .chairman of the Prisons Board is Mr Justice- Stringer, who has been a judge of the Supreme Court since 1913. Sir Robert Stout will continue to be a member of the board over which, as Chief Justice, he presided' for so long, The following gentlemen have also been appointed members of the board: Sir George Fenwick (Dunedin), Mr William Reece (Christchurch), Mr Edwin Hah (Onehunga), Sir Donald McGavin (Wellington).
