STATION BUILDINGS DESTROYED

SERIOUS LOSS SUSTAINED

March 11

A fire at three o’clock this morning destroyed a large woolslied, engine--house, a stack of oats and a stack of peas on Benopi station,. Waihopi, owned by Mr. W. G. lludd. The shed was capable of accommodating 1400 sheep and ten .stands of shearers. The engine-house contained a 10-li.p. Tangye engine and ten Wolseley machines. The woolshed contained a quantity of grass and clover seed, tents, horse covers, chaffcutter, saw bench, wool press and weigher, sundries and tools. Everything was totally destroyed. The origin of the fire was a mystery. The damage was estimated at £2500. The insurances on the woolshed and enginehouse amount, ed to £IOOO, on the engine £135, on the machines £135, all in the Alliance office.
