ATHEISTIC SOCIETIES.
AT WORK AMONG STUDENTS.
BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT NEW YORK, I March 8. The American Association for the advancement of atheism has announced that atheistic societies similar to the “Damned Souls’ Club’’ at the University of Rochester, will shortly be established in many colleges throughout the country. Mr. Freeman Hopwood, the general secretary, declared that branches were expected to be established at Yale and the University of Kansas within a few days. There was a likelihood of at least a dozen branches functioning by the end of the present term. Mr. Hopwood said: “Our association will supply them with literature, and will co-operate in every way. We especially endorse inviting professors to address and advise them. Experience has shown that the United States has a goodly percentage of professors who are atheists.”
