CAR DESTROYED BY FIRE

Last night a valuable 'six-cylinder car was completely destroyed by fire. The driver had received a message from a friend that he had run out of petrol, and he started to take a supp’y to him. Apparently the tin was leaking, for in Evans’ Bay the car burst into flames and was reduced to scrap iron. CORONER’S VERDICT.IN MOTOR FATALITY. DANNEVIRKE, March 9. At the inquest touching the circumstances surrounding tlic death of George Henry Lawrv, a labourer, who was killed on the" night of February 6, as the result of a motor-car belonging to Archibald Ernest Joseph Johnson, a taxi-proprietor, colliding with an electric light pole, and driven at five time of the fatality by George Paris, a newspaper runner, the coroner returned an open verdict, adding that there was some degree of recklessness and negligence as to the manner in which the ear was driven which directly contributed to the collision, but to what extent sucli recklessness or negligence was responsible in causing the death of Lawry was a question for another tribunal.
