A Christchurch Press Association telegram announces the death of Mr. Arthur Francis, aged 78, well known in athletic circles. On his initiative the Christchurch Swimming Club was formed, being the first in New Zealand. A meeting of music, elocution and school teachers, also others interested, will be held in the Hawera Borough Chambers on Thursday evening next, when members of the committee will be present to discuss this year’s Competitions festival. A Wellington Press Association telegram says that the day is brilliant, wlith a light breeze only, and favours another great .performance by Boise and his, American rival.
