MARKET REPORTS. FARMERS’ CO-OP. The Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation .Society of New Zealand, Ltd., reports: At Kakaramea on Monday last there was a small yarding. Everything- was cleared at the hammer. Yfe quote Small lambs 9/7, works bulls £2 10s to £4 7s, boner, cows £2 17s. At Urenui on Monday we report a fair yarding of cattle and stocky Quotations: Weaner pigs 10s to 11s 6d, rape lambs 13s Id to 13s 6d, f.m. ewes 10s to 12s 9d, fat ewes 245, 2-tooth wethers 22s 3d, fat cows to £5, works bulls from £2 10s to £5, according to weight. At Eltham on Wednesday we report a good yarding of all classes of stock. Quotations: Weaner pigs 7s to 13s, porkers 38s, cull lambs 9s 6d to 10s 6d, rape lambs 14s 3d, store cows 32s Gd to £2 6s, boners 20s to 30s, forward cows £3 to £4 ss, fat cows £5 5s to £5 10s, works bulls £2 to £5 7s Od, according to weight. , _ On Thursday at Hawera we held our usual fortnightly sale. There was a good yarding of all classes of stock, and we are pleased to report a very successful clearance. Some 150 pigs came forward, and with one exception every lot met with good demand and was sold at the hammer. Weaner pigs 7s 6d to 15s, medium stores £1 5s to £1 9s 6d, good ditto to £2 ss. In the sheep pens we can also report a satisfactory clearance. Quotations: Good lambs 12s Id to 14s 2d, medium ditto 10s Id to 11s 3d, 4 and 5 year ewes to 19s Id, fattening. ewes 10s 6d,'2-tooth Southdown rams 7gns to Bgns, 2-tooth Romney to 2igns. There was a good entry in the cattle pens. We quote: Fat cows £5 Is to £5 13s, best forward cows £4 to £4 7s 6d, best store cows at late rates. Small pen of 24-year steers made £4 15s.' There was a large entry of weaner heifers, but at present there is no demand for Jersey cross sorts and the majority of the lots were passed in. Shorthorn weaner steers £2 2s.
At Waverley on Friday, the sheep pens were fairly well filled and the bulk of the yarding sold at auction. The bidding was inclined to drag no doubt, the dry weather having an effect on the district. Wo quote, on account of Mr. Percy Paul, his registered Romney 4 and 6-tooth ewes 2jjgns to Mr. A. E. Death. The ewe lambs from same flock made 355, these being purchased by Mr. F. J. Finer. Other lines: S.M. ewes 16s 5d to 20s, good woolly lambs ,15s 6d and ,16s 2d, medium lambs 8s to ,11s, fattening ewes 10s and 10s 3d, fat and forward wethers 235, S.D. one-shear rams Bgns, Romney rams 2£ and 3gns. Small yarding in cattle section, and we report total clearance. A line of fat heifers (Hereford) £6 12s, 18 months empty heifers 265, weaner Jersey cross heifers 16s to 225, wrorks bulls from £3 2s 6d to £5 10s according to weight. Good weaner pigs 12s 6d, small do 7s.
N.Z. LOAN & MERCANTILE CO The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hawera branch, reports as follows: — At Opunalce sale on Monday, Ist inst., there -was a representative yarding and a good attendance of buyers. Prices: Forward cows £3 10s, store cows £2 7s 6d, boner cows £1 to £1 10s, small works bulls £2, weaner steers £2 6s 6d, lambs (small) 13s Id. At Palmer Road on Friday, sth inst., we held our fortnightly sale and annual weaner fair combined. Tbere was a good attendance of buyers, including several from outside districts, and as there was a good yarding of Jersey weaner heifers from the best herds in the district, a very satisfactory sale resulted. Some of the prices realised were as follows: Choice Jersey weaner heifers £3 to £3 10s, Jersey weaner heifers (small and good colours) £2 to £2 7s, Jersey weaner heifers (broken colours) to £1 10s, forward cows £2 17s to £3. 4s, store cows £2 to £2 10s, aged cows to £1 14s, works bulls £3 to £4 7s. FROZEN MEAT. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house, under date of the 4th inst. : Lamb. —New Zealand prime crossbred. North Island heavy (old' and new season) 6£d to 7d, North Island light 10d. Demand moderate. Mutton. —New Zealand prime crossbred, North Island heavy Sid, light si}d. Market weak; demand runs principally on light weights. Beef. —New Zealand prime ox, hinds 4d, fores 21 d. Market nominal; there is no demand. Pork. —Market prices unchanged.
