MOTOR FUEL INDUSTRY.

ITS EXTENT IN N.Z. CAPITAL INVESTED SOON WILL TOTAL £3,500,000. (By Telegraph.—Special to The Star.) WELLINGTON, March 5. An idea of the amount of capital invested in the change-over from the tin system to the system of ’bulk supply of benzine was given by the Chairman (Mr A. J. Toogood) at the half-yearly meeting of the North Island Motor Union to-day. He quoted figures which h e said he thought were quite sound. The amount -of capital involved was no less than £2,000,000, and £250,000 alone was being spent in the installation of kerbside pumps. Other changes were the erection of bulk storage tanks, the provision of coastal tankers, railway tank cars, tank waggons and delivery vans, and the construction of private railway sidings, pipe lines and pump houses. In present stocks and plants a, sum of £1,500,000 was represented, and when the change-over was completed the total invested capital would fee more than double what at was to-day—-£3,500,000.
