BOWLING.

HAWERA CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES.

WON BY C. ROBB

More than usual interest has been created in the Hawera Bowling Club’s championship singles this year owing, to the fact that three players tied with 15 wins each—Messrs Jas. Foy, Herbert and Robb. In the play-off with Herbert, Foy beat his opponent. This left the issue between Foy and Robb. Yesterday these two players fought out the finish before a large number of interested spectators. Two out of three games was to decide, and Robb won the first two games, thereby putting the issue beyond doubt. At the conclusion of the contest, /Mr Foy, Robb’s opponent, in a sportsmanliek manner, called for three cheers. for the winner of the singles championship, a call that met with hearty response. The win is a very popular one '‘the Hawera green, and Mr Robb has been playing very consistently this season.
