HUNTING.

EG MONT-WANGANUI CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. (From Our Waverley Correspondent.) The annual general meeting of the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club was held at Waverley on Saturday last, when Mr. J. E Palmer presided over a large attendance of members. The annual report was as follows: The hunting season.' was a fairly successful one and some very fine runs were obtained, the hounds under Huntsman Myles doing good work. The club’s best thanks are due to those providing the country and. enter, taining. The annual point-to-point meeting was held on July 18, over country kindly provided by Messrs E. Dickie and J. Lupton. Being favoured with fine weather an excellent afternoon’s sport was enjoyed by those all the events, being keenly contested. The annual race mee.ting was held on the Waverley racecourse on the Saturday preceding the Waverley Racing Club’s meeting (October 24), and although not favoured with the best of weather a profit of a little over £IOO was made, and this under the circumstances must be considered satisfactory. It is with deep regret that the committee has to record the death during the year of Mr. James Higgie, for many years, and up until his death, one of the club’s staunchest supporters. His advice and assistance will be much missed.

The annual report, and also the balance-sheet, showing profits of £ll9 5s 3d on the race meeting held on October 24, and £3B 18s 9d from the point-to-point meeting on July 18, were adopted. The- following officers were elected for the coming year: President, Mr. J'. E. Palmer; vice-presidents Messrs S. Mcßae, C. H. Washer, W. R. S. Brewer, O. Russell, and D. Higgie; master, Dr W. T. Simmons; deputymasters, Messrs D. Lupton and H. J. Crocker; lion, treasurer, Mr. J. E. Palmer; delegate to hunt clubs’ conference. Mr. C. H. Washer.

It was decided to hold the point-to-point meeting as usual, and a request was forwarded to the conference to permit the club to hold a race meeting in Hawera this year. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Washer for having acted as the club’s delegate to the Racing Conference.
