REFORM CANDIDATE.
SIR JAMBS GUNSON CHOSEN. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.. AUCKLAND, March 2. A conference attended by 124 delegates from 14 sub-branches of the Political Bleform League resulted in Sir James Gunson. securing a clear majority for choice as the party candidate tor the Eden by-election. . The delegates, who had previously signed a pledge to vote and work foi the selected candidate, expressed their continued confidence in Mr. Coates and their appreciation of the services tendered by Sir James Parr, the retiring member Sir James Henry Gunson, 0.8. E., G.M.G., late Mayor of Auckland, was born and educated in the northern cit > . He early interested himself in local politics and was president of the Chamber of Commerce in 1910, chairman of the Harbour Board 1911-15, and mayor from 1915 to 1925. He contested the Mt. PoskilVseat at fche, 1919 election. In 1922, me order of C.M.G. was conferred upon him. and two years later he was knighted.
