RACE AGAINST TIME.
FATHER’S RUSH TO' SFJE CONDEMNED' SON.
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Feb. 28.
it is regarded as most likely that Ti'ibitsch Lincoln, the notorious spy, who was delayed owing to- monetary difficulties, will reach England in time for the execution of his son Bombardier Lincoln, who has been .sentenced to death for the murder of a youth at Trowbridge. The announcement follows a most dramatic story of the father’s dash against the clock from Ceylon, where latterly he has (been a Buddhist novitiate. He landed at Marseilles on Sunday, expected to reach Paris on Monday, and possibly London late the same afternoon. Should there be any hitch in the ararngements the dramatic race may be fruitless unless the execution is postponed. Lincoln was. met at Marseilles by a representative of the British Consulate, who related the rigid conditions attaching to the spy’s landing in England. He wiTl be met by members of Scotland Yard and will be under police supervision the whole time. Immediately after seeing his ison he must accompany the officers t-o an unnamed port, from which he will be deported again. Tribitseli Lincoln, formerly a member of the British House of Commons, was arrested as a spy during the. war and was banished from the United Kingdom. When in the East. Lincoln received new*> of the sentence of death passed on his son, and he immediately cabled to the authorities to postpone the execution until lie could visit England and see bis son.
