As it result of pressure from the Conservative orgafiisation, the Government has promised to reconsider its proposal to grant £200,000 for a, civi‘ service sports ground. MOTOR PASSENGER TRANSPORT. Received Feb. 26, 12..5 p.m. ADELAIDE, Feb. 26. In giving evidence before the State Motor ’Bus Commission, the manager of the Tramways Trust (Mil W. Goodman) said the 33 ’buses owned by the trust had made a loss of £9 ; 458 since the inception of the service in March last, equal to 2.59 pence per mile. He suggested that there should be one central body in control of transportation in the metropolitan area, Mr. Goodman complained ot ineffective control, and competition by privately owned ’buses. Lord Burnham has given notice of a question in the House of Lords asking whether the Government will create a select committee to inquire into the desirability of' adopting a system of compulsory voting. JAPANESE BUDGET. TOKYO, Feh. 25. The Lower House passed the Budget. The Premier stated that the naval replacement programme, involving expenditure of 320,000,000 yen, had not been given up,-but, owing to thet country’s present economic condition, it was postponed pending an improvement.
