TARANAKI ANNUAL MEETING HAWERA HOLD TISCH SHIELD. ROOTS AND CROSS WIN AGGREGATE CUPS. The Taranaki Rifle Association held its annual championship meeting at the Rewa Row a range yesterday. Conditions were good for shooting until half way through the afternoon, yfhvn a v.’ind sprang up. By six o’clock, when the last event was finished, the light was also bad. At the conclusion of the programme, the trophies were presented to the winning riflemen as follow: Champion Belt, originally presented by Mr. 'l'. King, and gold medal to the winner of the grand, aggregate, Rifleman E. C. Hogg, New Plymouth. Silver medal for tyro aggregate. — Rifleman E. Ching, Ha went. Taranaki Rifle Association’s silver challenge cup for the long range aggregate. —Rifleman D. Roots, Patea. Taranaki Rifle Association’s silver challenge cup for the short range agoregate. —Rifleman G. Cross, Hawera. & The Tisch Memorial Challenge Cup for the champion team was again won bv Hawera. Palmer managed to beat the wind and put np the very creditable scores of 4% at 500 yards and 45 at 600 yards, which placed him at the top of the aggregate, closely followed by D. Roots and M. Carey.
