AMERICANS IN INVERCARGILL. TRIPLE WIN TO SCHOLZ. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 24. Recent heavy rains had 1 little effect on the tract at Rugby Park to-day, when the visiting American athletes conclusively provedi their superiority over local and l visiting New Zealand runners. The track, although soft, was not holding, and fair times ware registered.

Scholz scooped) the pool in the .sprints, winning the 75 yards, 100 yards and 1 220 yards; all from scratch. Hahn won the mile and was' third in the 440 1 yards, beating Kyle, the brilliant Wellingtonian, by the barest margin. The American distance man did not start in the half-mile. The results are as follows: —

75 yards .scratch race—Scholz 1, Morgan 2, Geddes 3., Time, 7 4-ssec. 100 yards —Scholz 1, Kyle 2, Harrington 3. Time, 10 l-ssee. 220 yards l —Scholz 1, Geddes 2, Brownlee (Canterbury) 3. Time, 22 4-ssec. Won with the greatest of case. 440 yards—Harrington (25yds) 1, Geddes (10yds) 2, Hahn (scr) 3, Kyle (scr) 4. Time, 53sec. Kyle led Hahn by two yards until the tape was reached, which they breasted practically together. _ ~ One mile—Hahn (scr) 1, Trotter (160yds) 2, Drewe (125yds) 3. Won easily. The American took the lead at the commencement of the last lap, and running strongly cleared away from his field. Time, 4min 37 3-ssee. This time is good considering the wind and the soft track. Hahn has been training assiduously while in. Invercargill in view of his meeting with Bose at Christchurch on Saturday.
