PLUNKET SOCIETY.
ANNUAL FETE WEDNESDAY AT KING EDWARD PARK. An appeal is made every year by the committee of- the Plunket Society to assist it in meeting the heavy expenses incurred in maintaining the good work done amongst the young children ot the district. This special appeal takes the form of a fete at the Park in Hawera, and the committee and hon. secretary spare no effort in making this fete one that will appeal to' every person in the community. Every year the response has been liberal and a considerable sum has been collected. This year the fete will be held on Wednesday next, and, as always, a series of attractions has been arranged that will combine to make a decided draav. There will be stalls of several kinds—cakes, ice cream, sweets, jumble, and afternoon tea—games—croquet, golf-putting, a tennis tourney, hoop-la, and sports for the children. Competitions will be held for decorated prams and children’s prams and tricycles. A Christmas Tree will be on the ground. Donations of produce, cakes, etc., will be very welcome, and donors are asked to leave gifts ait the Plunket Room. Albion Street, on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning.
