Approved by the Highest Authorities international Forestry Delegation approves of N.Z. Perpetual Forests Ltd. Facsimile Letter from Sir Herbert Matthews Secretary of the Central Chamber of Agriculture of England. AUCKLAND. February sth, 1926. As a Member of the Forestry Delegation, which investigated the work accomplished by N.Z. Perpetual Forests Ltd, and other commercial afforestation enterprises in the Smith-Wylie Group, it given me great pleasure to favourably report upon the great progress achieved. The Forestry Delegation were given every facility to investigate thoroughly both the properties and their potentialities, and every phase of the extensive planting operations was enquired into. The properties in the Smith Wylie Group embrace an area of considerably over 100,000 acres, situated in the Putaruru District at Tokoroa, and also at Maraetal, and in other adjacent areas. The land is eminently suitable for afforestation purposes, consisting of excellent pumice country and the rainfall, an important factor in tree growth, averages about 60 inches per annum. The large rainfall minimises any fire risk. Planting operations have been carried out successfully in accordance with the commitments of the Company, and the plantings done in 1924 are showing factory growth. The land is well situated for the purposes of access, and ample quantities of electric power will be available from Arapuni, which is but a few miles distant ' from the centre of the estates, and there is a large supply of water available from the Waikato River which bounds a portion of the estate for some miles. Having fully enquired into the Company's management, and.personnel of the organisation, and the complete system in operation, I have’pleasure in stating that I am quite prepared to associate myself with the Company in the capacity of Trustee, representing English interests.
