EMIGRATION OPPOSED.

BRITISH EMPLOYERS PROTEST.

“TO DETRIMENT OF HOME AGRICULTURE.”

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.

Received. Feb. 20, 10.55 a.m. LONDON, Feb. 19. The council of the National Farmers’ Union carried a resolution protesting to the Minister of Agriculture that State-aided emigrants do not help unemployed, since emigrants are mainly drawn from the classes which, are not liable to unemployment, and demanding immediate reconsideration of the settlement policy to prevent the taxpayers’’ money -being used to the detriment of home agricultural interests. .

The resolution was inspired by a communication from Warwickshire deprecating Canadian emigration officials canvassing agricultural workers to profit by the recently-reduced passage rates to Canada. —Reuter.
