A London cable message states that Earl Jellicoe took the oath and his seat in the House of Lords on his elevation to an earldom.
Prince George lias been promoted to Lieutenant. He is on service in the flagship Hawkins on the China station.
A Press Association message from Sydney announces the death of General Harry Beauchamp Lassetter, following an operation for appendicitis. He saw service on the Nile, in the South African and the Great Wars. He* was'6s years of age. , Visiting Hawera is Mr Rudall C. Hayward, producer of the motion picture “Rewi’s Last Stand.” Mr Hayward is prospecting the district with the view to the “shooting” of a companion picture “Von Tempsky’e Last Trails,” the important part of which would be filmed at Te Ngutu-o-te-Manu. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. A. Fox left this morning for Dunedin to see the Exhibition and they expect to be away for two weeks. 'Mr. Fox will attend the band contest and hopes to be able to renew many friendships formed with band conductors in the years in which he has been associated with band work.
