SrCOIESSFUL MEETING AT ASHBURTON.

The American athletes won the principal events at a sports. meeting, held at the domain in the presence of the largest crowd since r.lie visit of the Springboks. The interest was enhanced by the presence of U. H. Jenkins, of Wellington. The results of the events in which the visitors competed were: 75yds.—Sc ho)/, scr 1. J. Brownlee 3yds 2, Jenkins 11 yds 3. Won by two . feel . Time, 7 3-ssee. One Mile.—Hahn scr 1. F. Simpson lOOvd.s 2. Won bv fortv vards. Time, 4.26. 100yds. —J. .Bussell 10yds 1, Seholz sci- 2, J. Brownlee 3. Won easily by four yards. 'Time, 22sec. 4.4oyds.—Hahn scr I, A. H. Malcolm 30yds 2, O. H. Taylor 7yds 3. Won by two yards. Time, 50 4-ssec\ The only event in which the Americans were not successful was the 100yds. which; was won by Bussell off 10yds in lOsec. Jenkins (syds) won his heat in the 220yds in 22 3-osee, but he was not. placed in the final. He failed to gain a place in the 100yds heat.
