1 BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. Received Feb. 18, 1.30 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 17. Mr. J. , C. C. Davidson, ■ Paxlia--1 mentry’s under-secretary to the Admiralty, replying to Sir R. W. Hamilton (Liberal member for Orkney), said lie was aware that a small boat in which Earl Kitchener and Colonex Fitzgerald were supposed to have left the cruiser Hampshire had been purchased privately, but there was no evidence that Colonel Fitzgerald was found therein, or that Earl Kitchener ever set foot in the boat. The weight of evidence was that only the rafts got clear of the sinking cruiser.—Aus. and N.Z Assn.
