BIGELOW v. WELLS

Received Feb. 13, 10.56 a.m. NEW YORK, Feb. 12. The exchange of personalities between Mr. Poultuey Bigelow, an. American lecturer and author, and Mr. H G. Wells, the British author, lias taken a new turn with the announcement of Mr. Bigelow that he is starting a suit in London for 50,000 dollars damages on a charge of alleged slander against his adversary. In his recent book, “Seventy Summers,”' iMr. Bigelow likened the British novelist to “a, prosperous stockbroker.” Mr. AY ells replied with a vigorous article in the London papers. Mr. Bigelow states: “He called me a bore! How am I going to make a living as an after-dinner speaker .if I’m slandered by being called a b6re?
